Raj's star is definitely ascendant. With Center's help, he has defeated the Colony in battle, and absolutely demolished the Squadron in order to retake the Southern Territories. But Chancellor Tzetzas isn't happy with him - his victories cost him money even as they gain funds for the Civil Government via loot. And the Governor is increasinly paranoid that Raj will grow too successful, to popular, and decide to overthrow him. At the same time, the Governor is still determined to reunite the world, and Center is certainly willing to help.
So again Raj is sent off to war. Again he is underfunded and undermanned for the job at hand, even if he does have twenty thousand soldiers following him, for the enemy this time is the Brigade, with well over one hundred thousand troops ready to fight. Of course, they're not as well trained or as modernly equipped as Raj's army, or as well led. It's a battle of brains versus brawn, and even Center thinks the odds are too close to call.
The excellent military fiction continues unabated. Nothing really grand to set it apart, but it is satisfying reading.
