Continuing the story of Red Mars, this book continues the tale of the First Hundred - or what remains of them. A lot died in '61 when world war broke out. The revolution was lost, and now the First Hundred are in hiding.
This book has a lot more going on than the first one. That's not saying the action comes fast and furious, mind you, but it is intriguing throughout. If the first book was a character novel, this book is a political one as the various factions who want Martian freedom rub up against each other. Some want to begin a new violent revolution immediately, and some want a gentler takeover later, when everything is in place. I highly recommend this book, especially if you've read the first.
