This book takes place in a very similar world as The Faery Convention, another of Brett's works. Werewolves exist, as do vampires and elves. The latter two, however, are only incidental, barely mentioned. No, the book concerns werewolves.

Experimental medicines have progressed to the point where drugs have been devised that can eliminate lycanthropy. All that's needed is one last telethon in order to raise the funding to administer it to every werewolf in America. But someobody just killed the two main scientists working on the cure. The telethon is in danger.

Naturally, things get a bit twisty, in the nature of all good murder mysteries. This one strikes close to my heart, though; I really like werewolves, and rarely does a book have one as a main character, much less as a major part of the plot. It's done very well, too. Everything is built very well, and is quite logical even in its magical aspects. The climax is long and a lot of fun, also, which is a big plus; no ten page peak here! It's good enough that I hope for a sequel, even though the book really doesn't leave room for one; it'd have to just be the same setting, nothing more. But it's such a nice setting...
