Bo was meant to be a break from my high-tech suits. The only thing new for her would be the hooves. Everything else was fairly simple, at least in concept. It's interesting to see how much cheaper a "simple" suit is — and how expensive it still manages to be. As with Onyx, though, I can't guarantee that the prices listed here are what you'd pay if you built the same costume. Prices vary depending on where you go and when you buy them. Also, I used some materials and tools that I already owned, from building earlier suits. I didn't count those among the costs here.
Items and materials bought online include shipping costs and tax; items bought in stores will not include the tax, and are rounded to the nearest $0.25.
| Tools | |
| Defined here as items that are used in construction but are not consumed, or the amount consumed is negligible. I only count here those tools that I found it necessary to buy to complete this costume; I used plenty of tools that I'd already bought, such as the sewing machine and scroll saw. | |
Tools total (to date) — $44.23
| Multiple Categories | |
| These items are consumed, but are used in various places around the costume rather than in any one spot. Rather than be confued by repeating an item listing, or by eliminating it from all but one area, I'm just going to list those materials here, in a seperate area. | |
"Multiple Categories" total (to date) — $108.89
| Body | |
| This is the main portion of the suit; the torso, the legs, the arms, etc. | |
|
Body total — $0.00 | |
| Head | |
| This is the head as a whole, not including certain portions that required special equipment. Those get their own categories. | |
Head total (to date) - $19.80
| Eyes | |
| Again, the eyes have some rather specialized materials, and they can be done in a multitude of ways, so they get their own area as well. | |
|
Eyes total (to date) — $0.00
| Hair | |
| Hair can be a simple wig, or it can be something elaborate that I make myself. Or it can be nonexistant. I felt it was a specialized enough piece of the costume to get a category of its own, even though the actual number of materials is small. | |
|
Hair total (to date) — $0.00
| Feet | |
| Feet can be tricky. They're going to get worn and scuffed and probably dirty. And they have to be comfortable. It's even harder when they have to resemble hooves instead of paws. And then there's the digitigrade stilts to consider. Feet are not as simple as one might expect. | |
Feet total (to date) — $123.91
| Hands | |
| Gloves are tricky, too, but they don't take much in the way of materials. Unless you want them to resemble hooves, which makes them trickier still. | |
|
Hands total (to date) — $0.00
| Tail | |
| Most fursuits, including this one, have tails. Suits of some creatures look fine with just a foam-filled sock, and some require a little more work. Sheep, thankfully, have rather small tails, requiring only a bit of padding and some fur. | |
|
Tail total (to date) — $0.00
| Clothing and Accessories | |
| Some suits, including this one, require items over and above the actual suit. This area details what it cost to make or buy those clothes. | |
Clothing total (to date) — $369.90
